General Meeting – Software tug-of-war: Security vs. Privacy / August 12th / 6:30 pm

August 12 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Program: Software tug-of-war: Security vs. Privacy / An informative discussion by our Officers and members /

Do you ever feel like you are in the middle of a tug-of-war between security, privacy, and a comfortable place with your devices? Building a secure, powerful, bug-free, and fast operating system is a seemingly impossible task, but a needed one. In such a large, complex structure as an operating system, it isn’t possible to avoid bugs entirely. There are just too many surfaces and interactions between disparate computer functions. That’s why there are never ending updates to fix bugs. It gets even harder when you try to innovate new features and respect a user’s privacy.

How do you feel Apple manages this balance? Find out how you fit into the picture and what you can do to protect your digital life.

How to Attend:

Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic we have held our monthly General Meetings via the Zoom app. It has worked very well, making attendance convenient for our growing number of members from outside the Portland area.

PMUG will send out an email with an electronic invitation that will start a Zoom virtual meeting on your computer or iOS device. See the PMUG Zoom info page for more information.

Visitors are always welcome:  Send a message via the Contact Us link below to get an invitation.
